A balloon is an interactive element in both Croc: Legend of the Gobbos and Croc 2. They both have very much the same function in both games.
Croc merely has to jump and touch the balloon and it will carry him to a usually unreachable part of the level and it will pop and reappear to its original location. In most cases, Croc is unable to go back once using the balloon in which Croc should make sure he is ready to move on before using the balloon.
