Each tag should be put on a line of its own.

Tagging optionsLicensing
Many templates used on the Croc Wiki have a fair use license. What this means is that the uploaded image is subject to copyright, but that United States copyright law allows free use of it for documentation purposes so long as no profit is derived from its use. More information can be found on Wikipedia's fair use article.

Examples of fair use templates:
Public domain
* game-screenshot
* game-sprite
* character-artwork

;Other examples:
When adding a pd tag, also specify why the image is in the public domain. Has the author released it into the public domain? Is the image old enough to be public domain? Is it public domain because it was created by a particular government? Is it public domain because a user of Croc Wiki has created the image and has given it the public domain license? If you will be using a lot of public domain images on your wiki, you may want to expand these tags and have more specific information included within them.
* cc-by-sa-3.0 shows that the uploaded image is licensed under the Creative Commons http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ License.

* pd. Addshows tothat imagesthe thatuploaded arefile inhas been released into the public domain, usuallyand is unaffected by themost authorlicensing themselveslaws.

Free licenses
Be as specific as possible about which version of the license the image is used under. You may want to make more specific templates for your wiki later.

* GFDL - GNU Free Documentation License
* other free - Any free license such as the GNU General Public License or Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike
* permission - For when the owner of the image has given full permission for it to be used freely.
* From Wikimedia - For images that were taken from the Wikimedia Foundation. Remember to add the specific license information too.
* self - for image you made yourself, and release under a free license. Remember, a specific license tag is much better.

Fair use
See the Super Mario Wiki for a wider selection of fair use tags, especially if you will be uploading many game screenshots or sprites.

* fairuse - for a copyrighted image which is contended to be fair use.

Unsuitable
If you do not know the copyright status, do not upload the image! Non-free Creative Commons licenses are also not permitted. This includes images which do not allow non-commercial use or derivative works (NC and ND licenses), since these are non-free. The Sampling+ license is also not free. Such images need to be deleted by an administrator or, if a regular user notices the issue beforehand, tagged with delete.

Examples of such tags that have been taken from the Super Mario Wiki include game-screenshot, game-sprite, and game-cover.

On the Croc Wiki, you might want to tag images with no license until licensing issues can be resolved.
