Sparkling Stars
Sparkling stars are stars found every so often in Croc! Legend of the Gobbos. They transport Croc to a Secret Area where he has the chance to obtain lives, or hearts.
Function
Sparkling stars are not found directly in the path to the finish. Oftentimes Croc will have to search around the perimeter of a level in order to find them. Other times, he will need to stomp in certain areas for a certain number of times before the stars appear.
Sparkling Stars also work in tandem with Secret Platforms, which act as teleporters as well to the Secret Areas. These Platforms are usually located in hard-to-reach places, and are usually situated far below the regular playing area. This increases the risk of Croc dying by pitfall in an attempt to reach a Secret Platform.
Once Croc is in the Secret Areas he has one life to collect as many hearts as he can in the area. If he dies before the Area is complete, he will return to the level and will not be able to go back. Croc also can return to the level by finding that stars in the Secret Area that would normally return him back to the level anyway.
Description
Sparkling stars are orange and dwell on the ground. They turn blue and surround Croc when ready to transport him.
Secret Platforms are semi-transparent and white with a tinge of purple. They also surround Croc with blue stars when he lands on them before transporting him.
